Our Lore
The Legend of the Just Right Light
Behind every precise cut, hand-sanded edge, and glowing lens in our studio lies a deeper story.
Step inside the folklore of Artechal, where historic artisans, clever fairies, and legendary heroes collaborate to engineer functional magic.
A Royal Problem
Once upon a time, a talented artisan named Maurice wanted to build a special gift for his daughter, Belle, and the Beast. He wanted to make something beautiful for their castle, but it also needed to be useful.
To get some fresh ideas, Maurice reached out to a clever tinkering fairy named Tinker Bell. While they were brainstorming, they heard some sad news from the forest. Paul Bunyan’s great blue ox, Babe, was incredibly groggy and tired. It turned out that the giant ox was secretly afraid of the dark, and his fears were keeping him from getting a good night’s rest!
“We can help!” Maurice said. “We can craft a beautiful night light box for Babe to shine his fears away. And we can make them for the castle, too!”
The Perfect Blueprint
Maurice and Tinker Bell needed help creating the design, so they visited Goldilocks. She was the world expert on finding things that were “just right.”
Together, the team created a brilliant blueprint. They planned to build a sturdy wooden box. Inside, a hidden light would shine through beautiful acrylic lenses. It would be just bright enough to chase away monsters, but soft enough to allow for a peaceful sleep.
The team got straight to work:
- Paul Bunyan chopped the finest wood.
- Tinker Bell cut the lenses and crafted the lights.
- Maurice stood at his workbench, ready to assemble the box.
But suddenly, they hit a snag. Maurice didn’t know what size the box should be!
The Great Size Debate
Goldilocks and Tinker Bell immediately began to argue about the size.
“A tiny box won’t be bright enough to showcase a beautiful scene!” Goldilocks argued.
Tinker Bell disagreed. “A small box will work just fine. Remember, the best gifts come in small packages!”
To settle the fight, Paul Bunyan boomed, “Why argue? Let’s build them both and compare!”
Maurice happily obliged. He crafted a small box for Tinker Bell and a medium box for Goldilocks.
Tinker Bell placed her tiny box down and clicked off the room lights. A mighty, brilliant glow filled the space. “See?” she smiled. “Tiny, but powerful!”
Goldilocks shook her head. She turned off Tinker Bell’s light and switched on her medium box. The room filled with a perfectly balanced, gorgeous display.
Everyone gasped. Both sizes dispersed the light flawlessly!
Just then, Paul Bunyan looked down. “These are amazing,” he laughed, “but I need a box that is big and bold, just like my ox, Babe!” Maurice smiled and went back to work, crafting a third, grandiose box. To support the massive lenses, Maurice engineered this large stage out of extra-thick, heavy hardwoods.
Just Right For Everyone
With all three sizes finished, the characters customized the lenses to fit their own unique styles. They realized that every single size was special, and they gave each one a name:
- The Tokenbox: Tinker Bell named her small box the Token. It was a tiny titan, proving that small spaces could still hold a mighty display of light.
- The Goldibox: Goldilocks named her medium box. It was the perfect middle ground, offering a beautiful display suitable for any room.
- The Oxenbox: Paul Bunyan named the giant box for his companion. It was big, bold, and heavy-duty.
Tinker Bell surprised Goldilocks by gifting her the Tokenbox to keep. Maurice sent the Goldibox to the castle, where it fit perfectly into the royal decor. And the Oxenbox sat right next to Babe’s bed, successfully shining all of his big fears away.

Epilogue: The Clever Cat's Wheels
With the Tokenbox, Goldibox, and Oxenbox successfully scattering the night’s shadows, the Artechal workshop fell quiet—but the creative spark did not stop. Looking down at the workshop floor, Tinker Bell noticed a pile of circular scraps left over from cutting the acrylic lenses.
“Waste not, want not,” Maurice smiled, using his laser tools to cut precise, microscopic teeth into the outer edges of the small discs.
Suddenly, a dashing figure stepped out from the shadows—Puss in Boots. The clever, artistic cat admired the interlocking gears, rolling them smoothly against one another along the workbench.
Puss dipped his paws into ink, placed a fine quill through a small hole in the center of a gear, and began to spin the wheels in perfect geometric paths across sheets of parchment. As the gears turned, breathtaking mathematical spirals and layered starburst patterns blossomed onto the paper.
“Trés magnifique!” Puss purred. “A tool that allows anyone to draw like a master artisan.”
Maurice named these interlocking drafting wheels Gearpics™—precision instruments inspired by a clever cat, crafted to let you spin your own imagination into geometric works of art.
Every great creation has a history, and the tools in our workshop were inspired by a timeless tale of handcrafters, fairies, and giants.
